The project was all but finished bar a couple of minor details (installation of a TDC mod and then painting) but the project was recently thrown a massive curve ball when Parcel Force managed to snap the stock (just after the trigger guard and despite being fully assembled and inside a hard shell transport case) whilst it was on its way to Gun Smithy for him to fit his brand new CNC TDC understatement, so many hours of graft ruined by Parcel Forces negligence (there was evidence of a hefty impact to the bottom of the hard shell case as the corner had caved in!) and to add insult to injury, Parcel Force refused to pay out as Airsoft items carry zero compensation apparently (I thought they carried the default compensation of \u00a3100 per consignment but were ineligible to enhanced compensation)!<br><br>So instead of the RIF going off to be painted once Gun Smithy was done, it ended up going back to JB3D &#8211; Custom 3D Printing &amp; Design for inspection to see what could we done.<br><br>Upon inspection, Jake @ JB3D was confident that a pretty decent job could be made of a repair as the break was clean and along a layer line however we also used the opportunity to test other filaments and install metal reinforcement rods which we would epoxy in place. <br><br>If this testing proved successful, we would adjust the print files so that the side walls around the trigger guard area were slightly thicker,  prepare them to accept metal reinforcement rods and also split the print into two pieces which would result in smoother layer lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure went well with no visible break once painted and as such, I commissioned Mk3 of the stock to be printed and sold the repaired Mk2 stock on eBay to cover costs \ud83d\ude42<br><br>Due to the changes to the print file (namely printing 2x smaller pieces vertically vs 1x 770mm piece), the stock printed much smoother than the previous iterations and despite the additional thickness to the side walls around the trigger guard, it still looked slender and proportional!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Everything to be rubbed down with wet and dry to achieve as smooth a finish as possible<\/li><li>3D printed stock, covers, thumb screws &amp; cheek riser to be finished in Sniper Grey (Cerakote C-187)<\/li><li>Trigger guard to be finished in Sniper Grey (Cerakote C-187)<\/li><li>Mag release button with 3D printed extension to be finished in Sniper Grey (Cerakote C-187)<\/li><li>Internal can of suppressor (part under the honey comb mesh) to be finished in Sniper Grey (Cerakote C-187)<\/li><li>Everything else to be finished in Graphite couple of weeks later and here she is in all her glory!
